Heritage Auctions

Objective

To redesign the “Why Consign” section of the Heritage Auctions website, using previously gathered user metrics to create a more intuitive and user-friendly experience.

• Created a new, more intuitive design using Figma, focusing on improving the user journey and interface.

Challenges

• Resistance to Rapid Prototyping: One of the major challenges was working with a manager who was unfamiliar with the benefits of rapid prototyping. Some team members were skeptical of the process, which created friction during the design phase.

• Generational Gaps: Navigating generational differences in work styles and understanding the power of design innovations, such as rapid prototyping, required extra effort in communication and advocacy for modern design methods.

Solutions

• Demonstrating the Value of Rapid Prototyping: By showcasing the efficiency and impact of rapid prototyping, I was able to prove its value in delivering faster iterations and more refined solutions. This approach improved communication and collaboration with stakeholders.

• Adaptability in Communication: I adapted my communication style to bridge the gap between different generations and ensure that the design’s benefits were clearly understood by all parties involved.

Results

• Successful Redesign: The final design for the “Why Consign” page exceeded the original expectations, resulting in a more user-friendly and visually appealing interface.

Conclusion

My work at Heritage Auctions not only improved the user experience on the “Why Consign” page but also allowed me to take on additional internal projects, demonstrating my initiative and passion for design. Despite challenges, the final design surpassed initial expectations and proved the value of rapid prototyping to key stakeholders.
